Boosted Yields or Complexity? Thala’s Liquid Staking vs. Global LSD Protocols

Liquid staking derivatives (LSDs) have become one of the most important innovations in DeFi. On Ethereum, Lido dominates; on Solana, Marinade leads; in Cosmos, Stride captures cross-chain staking. These protocols unlock staked capital, allowing users to earn staking rewards while participating in DeFi.

On Aptos, Thala introduces a novel two-token model (thAPT, sthAPT), promising higher yields and deeper composability. But does this complexity give it an edge, or will it struggle against simpler, battle-tested models elsewhere?
